Grudem Lays the Smack Down on Trueman and Goligher

Wayne Grudem has responded to recent accusations that his teaching on the Trinity (a view shared by dozens of other respected theologians throughout the history of the church) is heretical. Read Grudem's response here.

And, in case you were wondering, I'm on Team Grudem.

  1. Seems like I weighed in on this one too soon. I initially thought that Trueman and the gang were denying functional subordination within the economic Trinity while Grudem and Ware and the boys were affirming it. That's not the case. All parties agree on functional subordination within the economic Trinity while the Grudem/Ware faction go further by positing functional subordination within the immanent Trinity. That, I'm not so sure about. More study is needed.

However, I tend to agree with Grudem's criticisms of eternal generation and I definitely think his and Ware's theological method is more biblical than that of their critics whose criticisms seem mostly based on historical and philosophical considerations (which may be worthwhile but can never trump Scripture).
