What If Theology Actually Mattered?

Here's a thought experiment:

Try to imagine a world where theology actually matters. This is a world where what we believe about God and his Word—about sin, salvation, and judgment—makes a difference. Where our beliefs about these things shape our destiny. A world where biblical truth is more valuable that your next meal or even your next breath. A world where unbiblical theology is more deadly than poison because it kills not your body but your very soul.

How would you think and act differently in a world like that? How would your attitude toward doctrine change? Toward the church? Would you be more quick to respond to false teaching? Would you be more likely to point out error? Would you be more likely to share the truth? How would you think and act differently in a world where theology really mattered? Now, think carefully about your answer. Think carefully because we live in that world. Theology really does matter.
